Fast fashion means that the brands produce in countries where labor is very cheap because the laws don't protect the garment workers. The clothes produced are of poor quality and execution, and they get sold at incredibly cheap prices in "rich countries". Since they are trendy in design, they will get out of fashion quite quickly. In fact, fast fashion brands even release new collections every 2 weeks, to make clothes previously purchased... obsolete. How to tell if a brand is "fast fashion": 1. Look at the brands producing in countries and factories where accidents happen. These brands clearly don't care about where and how their clothes get produced... 2. Research to which larger corporations these brands belong. It is very likely that a huge corporation like Inditex (Zara, Mango...) uses similar production methods for all its brands. 3. Understand the mindset of the brands / corporations that belong to the fast fashion industry: if they outsource their productions to countries where labor rights aren't respected, it is probably not to be charitable. Then claiming to use organic cotton (as an example of PR action) just can't make it up for ethically questionable practices. 4. Learn the break down of a price tag. If a Primark t-shirt costs 5€ in retail, how much of that actually goes to the garment worker? LA PERLA Fall Winter 2017 2018 Womenswear Full Show New York Fashion Channel For her second season, Creative Director Julia Haart embarked on a creative exploration of nature seen through the eyes of the artist. The designer was inspired by the motif of the British garden as captured by painters throughout history. Renaissance painters, Impressionists, Pop Art inventors and Post-Modern rebels all turned to the garden as a setting and consistent source of beauty in their world. From the lush foliage of the Pre-Raphaelite painter Lawrence Alma Tadema to the American modernism of Georgia O'Keeffe, blooms reimagined by the human hand are the consistent thread throughout this collection. There is only one subject more closely studied and more frequently rendered in art than nature, and that is the female form, which is the core inspiration in La Perla’s design DNA. Haart and her design team gave the fit and comfort of each piece the studied attention of an artist, endowing the collection with the sense that beauty comes not only from how the clothes look, but how women feel when they wear them. Founded in 1954 by the talented corsetry maker Ada Masotti, La Perla is the leading Italian lingerie and beachwear maison. Artisanal heritage, knowledge of the female body, blend of innovation and tradition and Italian identity are the founding values of the La Perla universe. In the second half of 2013, the company was acquired by Pacific Global Management, owned by Silvio Scaglia’s family holding and already active in the fashion industry through the world largest model management network, operating under the brands Elite, Women and The Society. La Perla sells its creations through a network of flagship stores, shop-in-shops and corners located in the heart of the most important fashion districts, as well as being present in the best department stores and specialized boutiques worldwide. The company, led by Creative Director Julia Haart, offers collections of ready-to-wear, lingerie, sleepwear, beachwear, loungewear and accessories for women and men who aim at expressing their style with ease and sophistication. View of street FASHION DESIGNER LIZ CLAIBORNE DIES, 78 Fashion designer Liz Claiborne revolutionised the way working women put together their wardrobes - because she was one of them. She made it easy for them as they pioneered up corporate ladders in the 1970s and 1980s, offering coordinated outfits at once serious and stylish, but also affordable. Claiborne died on Tuesday at the New York Presbyterian Hospital after suffering from cancer for a number of years, said Gwen Satterfield, personal assistant to Claiborne. She was 78. With husband Art Ortenberg and partners Leonard Boxer and Jerome Chazen, Claiborne launched her label in 1976 after working for years as a relatively unknown dress designer. The brand emphasised ensemble sportswear, quality and keeping the price tag below that of other designers. Liz Claiborne and her husband retired from the day-to-day operations in 1989. The new approach to dressing revolutionised the department store industry, which had focused on stocking pants in one department and skirts in another. The clothes became an instant hit, and the company went public in 1981. By 1985, Liz Claiborne Inc. was the first company founded by a woman to be listed in the Fortune 500, according to the company's Web site. As the company grew, the designer expanded her offerings to include more casual clothes and also popular licensed accessories. Her handbags with the triangular Liz Claiborne logo and taupe trim were fixtures on the arms of both high school girls and their mothers in the 1980s. "Liz's designs have influenced the way American women dress and will influence them forever. She made it okay to be female at work, she made it okay to wear colour to be flamboyant, it's okay to be out there, she changed the whole aesthetic of American dressing, one fashion designer Dana Buchman said. "She's an icon, she really changed the fashion industry," one New Yorker told AP Television. The fashion and textiles industry revolves around rapid turnaround time and is highly competitive. Working conditions are not always favourable and the designer/entrepreneur is constantly placed under extreme stress and pressure to meet deadlines. Therefore, it is important to have the ability to communicate at all levels, deal with criticism, work in an organised and rational manner, be prepared to work in the evenings and weekends during range time, fully understand the target markets and philosophy of the company. Although this may all seem daunting and challenging, if the enthusiasm, ambition and desire to succeed is there, the rewards of recognition will present themselves. SILVER Nothing has changed as radically in the last few decades as the technology we surround ourselves with on a daily basis. Modern means of communication let the world shrink to a pocket size Global Village. Medical technology promises life beyond its natural limits. Robotics, cybernetics and developments in the field of artificial intelligence put the equally fascinating as disquieting idea of artificial life within our grasp. Nanine Linning's new production SILVER addresses the intimate and increasingly intrusive ñ relationship between the human and the technological, showing its potential for future developments, but also questioning its promise of ever increasing progress and self-improvement. As before for SYNTHETIC TWIN, ZERO and ENDLESS, Linning again teams up with a designer of international stature for stage design and costumes – this time extraordinary artist Bart Hess. Hess’ work encompasses installations and video art, performance pieces and futuristic explorations into the tactility of fashion and textile design. His list of collaborators includes prominent figures such as fashion designer Iris van Herpen, shock rocker Marilyn Manson and pop icon Lady Gaga. For SILVER Hess creates costumes and stage elements that complement Linning’s choreography to conjure up an alienating world where nothing is what it seems. This choreographic investigation into the possible near future is accentuated by new music from Dutch composer – and longtime collaborator – Michiel Jansen. Classic Fashion Apparel Industry Ltd. Co. welcomes you to Standard Jeans Apparel Manufacturing Company. Ajloun, one of its Garment-Making Satellite Units In the year 2012, Government of Jordan was taking steps to implement National Employment Strategy and Poverty Reduction Strategy 2013-2020, according to the wishes of His Majesty King Abdullah II. At that time Mr. Sanal Kumar, CMD of Classic Fashion Apparel Industry Ltd., met Prof. Nidal Katamine, the Minister of Labor, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to discuss recruitment of more migrant workers. The Minister agreed but wanted more employment opportunities for Jordanians because Jordanians were less than 30% of the total work force in the garment-making sector. Poverty Reduction Strategy of the Government focused on more employment opportunities to Jordanians. Only 14% of the women in Jordan were gainfully employed and unemployment among youth and women was increasing. The CMD of Classic Fashion was more than willing to oblige but there were some difficulties as the factories were concentrated in Industrial Zones, which were far from residential areas, and the people, especially women, were reluctant to travel to these zones. Besides, communities did not favor women working or traveling to work and people did not like what they thought was the working environment inside the factories Better Work Jordan, a joint project of the ILO and IFC, had made studies and had suggested starting satellite units in remote rural areas to bring employment opportunities to the doorstep of the rural poor and unemployed people, especially women. At the behest of His Majesty, the Government had integrated this suggestion into the National Employment Strategy. The Minister invited the CMD of Classic Fashion to the Governorate of Ajloun and, after discussions, they chose a place called Anjara near Ajloun town to locate the Satellite Unit, because unemployment was high among women there, income from agricultural activities was not sufficient for a decent living and there were few business opportunities or other sources of income. Standard Jeans Apparel Manufacturing Company was set up at Anjara near Ajloun on the 18th of May, 2013. Ajloun town had a population of 9018 in 2012. Unemployment was very high like the mountains surrounding the town. Climate was a pleasant Mediterranean climate and rains and few snowstorms were limited to the winter season from December to March.

The shopping landscape has changed in the recent decade. The “Retail Apocalypse” began in 2010 and since then many North American retail stores have struggled to stay above water. Over 12,000 physical stores are gone. Here are some of the companies that couldn’t survive the catastrophe. Family Dollar In 2015, Dollar Tree bought the Family Dollar chain for $8.5 million, which. Last year, Dollar Tree already axed 120 locations. As of now, 390 more Family Dollar locations will close, and 200 more will be converted into Dollar Tree stores. The thousand remaining stores are scheduled for renovations and will include alcohol sections and Dollar Tree merchandise. Some people believe that Dollar Tree should have never bought Family Dollar because the two companies were too different. However, Dollar Tree earned nearly $22 billion last year, so maybe something’s going right. 8. The Children’s Place Where are parents of small children going to buy clothes now that Gymboree and The Children’s Place are going out of business? The retailer plans to close 300 stores by 2020. So far, they have about 100 more to go before they reach that goal. Currently, they have 988 locations, though they began their downsizing initiative back in 2013. Luckily, The Children’s Place isn’t in deep water when it comes to losing sales. If anything, their sales are steady, but they still want to cut costs to remain profitable. 7. Chico’s Chico’s used to rule the market when it came to selling clothes to the middle-aged women. Chico’s also owns similar brands like Soma and White House Black Market, which have also seen a decrease in sales. At the start of January 2019, Chico’s said they were closing 250 stores in the next three years. They explained they wanted to have a more prominent presence online and do away with the more out-dated aspects of the brand. 6. J. Crew Preppy fashions have seen a dip in popularity in the past decade. If you look back to the 2000s, a preppy clothing brand like J. Crew was at the top of the profit charts. Now? Not so much. J. Crew has closed six stores throughout the US for 2019. That doesn’t seem like a huge loss, but they already shuttered 50 stores last year. J. Crew’s CEO Jim Brett stepped down in 2018, and now four new executives are trying to lead J. Crew back to the top. At least the J.Crew-owned brand, Madewell, is still trending. 5. Ascena Retail Group Ascena Retail Group owns brands like Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor, and Justice. These places adhere to different demographics of females, yet Ascena can’t seem to make their business work as well as they want. They own almost 5,000 apparel stores in the US, making it one of the most spread-out companies on this list. In 2017, the retail group planned to close up to 667 stores for the next 2 years. As of now, Ascena closed 31 stores and is on track to close more. 4. Charlotte Russe Charlotte Russe is like Forever21 but not as well-received. This fast-fashion chain was founded in the 70s. As of March, they will liquidate all of their stores. Earlier this year, Charlotte Russe filed for bankruptcy and only wanted to close 94 of its 512 stores. Their strategy was to use bankruptcy as a way to eliminate their debts and hope another company would buy them to stay in business. However, liquidating company, SB360 Capital Partners won Charlotte Russe in a bankruptcy court auction for $160 million and prompted for the company to shut down. 3. Gap Remember the days when shopping at Gap was all the rage? However, the youth is now opting for more affordable, on-trend stores like H&M and Forever 21. The Gap is closing their stores little by little and in the next two years have the intent to close up to 230. It’s third-quarter earnings report showed profits declining at 7%. On January 20, 2019, they shuttered their New York flagship store. 2. Payless ShoeSource Payless served as a supplier of trendy footwear that was reasonably priced. They were famous for their BOGO (buy one, get one) deals, which allowed you to bring home two pairs of shoes for the price of one or one and a half. We must bid Payless goodbye since they could not compete with cheaper online stores. In the past couple of years, Payless has gradually been shuttering stores. In February, they said they were going to close the 2,100 remaining locations in the US and Puerto Rico. 1...

Eagle Claw Cufflinks with Carnelian Balls - https://gentl.mn/2VO3ISt So what are the things from Ralph Lauren you should buy? Sweaters: Ralph Lauren is one of the few companies that offers really an extremely wide range of knits; whether it's a cable knit or an aran sweater, maybe a fair isle, knit vest inspired style, they have cool wools, they have cool styles with Shaw collars, cardigans, and really everything under the sun. Double RL brand: It's not usually carried in department stores, they are usually sold at specific stores; there's a great one in New York, I think it's their flagship store. It's mostly vintage Americana inspired work wear so lots of denim, lots of more casual garments with vintage influences but their suits are also very nice. Swimwear: They are usually in classic patterns such as checks or they have like bold stripes and it's very hard to find a tasteful classically inspired pair of swim trunks from other brands. Overcoats: Probably the most iconic piece is the Polo overcoat which works well with their name. It's kind of a camel hair coat and you've probably have seen an ad from them. Ironically, it's not sold on their website very often anymore so the best chance to find it is vintage on eBay or other places. Vintage Polo items: Today, Polo Ralph Lauren is much more commercialized. It's mostly made in Asia, however, in the 80s, things were made in the US or in Italy or in England and oftentimes, to a higher standard; the yarns and the fabrics are better so they've stood the test of time. So if you find something from the 80s or 90s that you like and it goes with your style, don't be afraid of buying it, it's good stuff. Good items in this area are corduroys or sweaters, ties, suits, or even seersucker. Shorts: Men's shorts or Bermuda shorts are really great.but just in general, often they are vintage-inspired, they offer bolder colors than other men's brands, and they have little details such as coin pockets or just a pattern like a real Indian cotton madras. Dress shoes: Today, their purple label shoe line is usually made by Crockett & Jones, Edward Green or Graziano and Girling which are all high-end British makers. Purple label suits and jackets: Back in the day, they were made in England by Chester Barrry and crew and that's the suit I'm wearing here right now. It's really nice, it has a very 30s inspired style with wide lapels, it's tailored very softly so it's extremely comfortable just like a sweater and even though today, most of purple label's items are made in Italy and things have changed quite a bit, they're still at a high-quality level and I recommend them. Usually, those garments retail anywhere from $4,000-$6,000 or more. Now, I don't believe it's worth the retail price but sometimes, you can score bargains on eBay or on outlets. Home goods: They have anything from bed sheets to glasses to decorative items and while generally, their stuff is not of the utmost quality, it is good quality and it is a superb style. Slacks: Especially, Polo has a range of corduroys for the winter that are unusual, many different colors, they also have great chinos. What should you not buy from Ralph Lauren? Polo Shirts: They are flimsy. Dress shirts: They fit weirdly. Anything with Big Logos: Simply obnoxious. Activewear: Does not work! T-shirts: Overpriced

There's nothing better than an incredible fitting suit. In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, Pete & Pedro , and Fashion Anchor talks about where to find a great fitting suit. You can go into a store and get advice from a sales person. You can also get a custom suit made for a few thousand dollars. But today we have the Internet where you can get made-to-measure suits at off the rack prices. You MUST know what you're doing so you don't get a jacked up suit. Alpha's Perfect Suit Alpha demonstrates what a perfect made to measure suit looks like. He built his with Indochino. He customized all the details -- custom and perfect! They are the largest made-to-measure suit company in the world. Alpha has known about them for a while, and although he's used other companies for made to measure companies, Alpha realized they are the kings! The website is super sexy where you can see the suit you're going to buy. Use the special link for a special price. Online Made-to-Measure Mistakes 1. Not buying from a reputable company - make sure the company has been in business and will stay in business. 2. Unrealistic expectations - online made-to-measure is not the same as a 100% custom suit. You will need to have some alternations from a tailor. Indochino will reimburse you up to $75 for alternations. 3. Going trendy or super cool before having the basics - your first suit should be a color like medium gray. The lapels should be notched, two vents, two buttons, pockets with flaps, no pleats in pants, and a fun inner lining. You can also add embroidery, pick stitching, functioning button and boutonniere holes, and more. 4. Not taking your time and getting help for measurements - Indochino has videos to walk you through the measurements. Once you nail the fit, you know future suits will fit you perfectly like the one before. 5. Not wearing it enough - you can wear suits at other occasions than weddings and funerals. Lose the tie, pop the collar, and go out to dinner. Wear it, rock it, love it! It's better to be over dressed than under.
